Minimization of power losses in an electrical distribution network Abha Tripathi. - Bengaluru PES University 2018-2019

Due to increase in electrical power demand and loss in transmission and distribution network, the efficiency of power system is getting affected. Hence, focus is given on power distribution system. Feeder reconfiguration is done to improve the quality of power in the distribution system. Primarily the aim of this paper is to reduce the losses in electrical power system. Technical loss evaluation is carried out for 11kV National Aluminum Company (NALCO) feeder by performing Load flow analysis using NEPLAN offline simulation software. The computed technical loss is validated with MI power software. Network technical losses are minimized by reconfigured the existing network by utilizing the Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) was used to reconfigure the network by simulation analysis that was carried out to modified NALCO-148 bus system to verify the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method. PSO to be used to obtaining the opt
