This project mainly aims at harnessing of Solar Photo-voltaic Energy for pumping water for Irrigation lands at remote locations. In our country most of the farmers are dependent on bore-well or stored water in ponds, wherein the water is pumped using induction motors. There is a requirement of power supply during day time for irrigation at remote locations. So solar energy which is abundantly available can be utilized for pumping water for irrigation purpose. This leads to non-dependency on grid power and being part of overcoming global warming by harnessing solar energy. A 1.2kW prototype is being developed for conversion of variable DC photovoltaic energy for pumping water using Single-Phase Induction motor. There is requirement of a series of converter systems of which DC-DC-AC topology has been selected. In this topology inverter also plays a prominent role in generation of pure sine wave with fewer harmonic. It is also equally important for inverters to be small in size
