510 _aIn the recent days, high rise building has become trend which is vulnerable to seismic effect. Due to the functional requirements the high-rise buildings may have different column arrangement system between floor levels of the building. The lower floors of the structure can be used for functional areas like shopping mall, parking, multipurpose hall, commercial markets etc. The higher floors of the structure can be used as office and residential units using more economical and shorter span. In such cases, a transfer floor is commonly used to solve this persistent structural-architectural conflict. It was found that the analysis and design of building considering transfer slab are available in literature however the comparative study between building with and without transfer slab was not found. In present study numerical investigation using ETABS on buildings with transfer slab and comparative study on seismic response of typical buildings with and without transfer slab is be
